My wife says it's common in Europe to rinse with hydrogen peroxide to get your teeth whiter. What can anyone tell me?

NO NO NO DO NOT SWALLOW PEROXIDE!! IT IS TOXIC!!!
In terms of it making your teeth whiter, I might be able to see that. It kills germs in your mouth if you have an infection.

ReplyDeleteJust the one you buy it's not strong enough.... the strong version is REALLY toxic and can cause burn on skin... that's why they don't sell it for home whitening.....

ReplyDeleteIf you are going to use it in your mouth to whiten your teeth or any other internal use, the type of hydrogen peroxide that is sold at general stores, Walmart, Kmart, Target, drug stores and convenient stores IS NOT made for internal use. External use is fine though. This type of HP has additives that can be harmful to you if you use it internally. Some say if you don't swallow it won't hurt you and this is not the case.
ReplyDeleteThe inside of your mouth absorbs liquids and any type of dissolving compound very quickly. Example.....think about the nitroglycerin absorbable pills that heart patients take when having a problem. It dissolves under their tongue and goes straight into the blood stream.
You can obtain food grade hydrogen peroxide from some nutritional stores, but even though it can be used for internal use, it is very dangerous to work with and has to be diluted for the appropriate usage. It is inconvenient, dangerous to work with and expensive.
