The cost depends on your choice of dentist, so ask when you call to make an appointment. If it fits your budget it's worth it, and if your dentist does a good job, your teeth will look very white not ghoulish. Again, it's best to have whitening done professionally, but it's more expensive than using white strips.

The best way to whiten one's teeth is to do it professionally this way the results will be far safer and more pronounced then if one were to use a generic teeth whitening product like Crest White Strips.

The reasoning behind this is that if you go to a dentist and get your teeth professionally whitened, you are doing this in a controlled manner. You are given usually two carpules of whitening gel to start with, usually carbomide peroxide which is at a higher percentage of peroxide then that of Crest White strips etc. and the whitening is controlled by that of your dentist, so therefore you are not damaging your teeth by whitening too frequently, leaving the trays in for too long etc.

When you use a product like Crest White strips you are at your own mercy. I have used both professional whitening products and have used Crest White strips and the differences were quite noticeable. After using Crest White strips Premium, I had quite significant sensitivity to colds. Even breathing in air caused my teeth to hurt and the results were not that great. As well with Crest White strips it is really hard to keep the lower strip onto your teeth without your saliva washing some off, you accidentally ingesting it etc. It tastes really gross, not to mention excess swallowing of peroxide gel can cause you to have a sore throat and possibly become sick. Hence is why I don't recommend drugstore whitening kits.

With a professional tooth whitening system such as Opalescence Xtra Boost Whitening System, you actually get a custom made tray made to specifically fit your teeth. This way you don't accidentally ingest any of the whitening gel, and you are able to wear the whitening trays without having to worry about your saliva getting in the way.

A dentist/dental assistant will take a alginate impression of your teeth, then will pour up a stone model of your teeth. They will then take a vacuum former and seal this over the stone model creating a tray, they will cut it, smooth it out and you have your tray.

I would highly suggest the Opalescence whitening system, as I have tried it myself and the results were great, no sensitivity to cold afterwards and no ingesting of the peroxie. The key with this product though is using it sparingly and giving yourself time between applications as it has a higher percentage of peroxide than that of Crest White strips therefore you can damage your teeth if not monitored.

Average prices for this product are $ 250 to $ 500 and the prices don't include alginate impressions, study model and whitening tray. However, this is FAR more pricier than Crest White strips, $ 50 for Crest White Strips Premium, I think you will get far better results and be more pleased with the Opalescence.

I DO not however recommend the Zoom whitening as it can be very damaging and painful to teeth.

That doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

I suppose it depends on the orthodontist. When I got my braces off, the orthodontistst was so rough, that my mouth was full of sores. My gums were swollen and painful for a week. I think he was just careless. Maybe you will have a better experience.

I got quoted around 200 dollars but there are different procedures depending on the type of staining, the type of treatment they use, where you live, etc.
Insurance will NOT cover it because it is a cosmetic procedure.
Safe... ehhh some say it is, some say it isn't, generally yes if you get it done at the dentist, but it can weaken your enamel.
Mix baking soda with peroxide.. You can get a small box of baking soda for under a dollar and a small bottle of hydrogen peroxide for the same. Mix it into a paste (or just dip your brush in the peroxide and then in the baking soda ) and brush with it. DONT swallow it, then brush your teeth normally. It won't make your teeth sensitive like some other whiteners, and it's cheap, but don't do it more than once or twice a week (don't do it every day) as it really just removes stains and once they're gone, they're gone, you can't really get much whiter.

Remember teeth aren't naturally white, they're off white, so you can't really get them WHITE without damaging them. People you see with super white teeth... They're teeth are actually very unhealthy. Good luck!

I've been using Scope whitening rinse lately and have been pretty impressed. With a rinse I can swish it inbetween teeth & whiten in the cracks & hard to reach surfaces that a strip can miss. That looks really stupid, having really white teeth that are really dark in the inbetween spaces.

When I got my braces off, my teeth were a bit yellow, not gross, but not sparkling white, they were normal. I got a sonicare toothbrush (worth the investment it is AWESOME!), Crest Vanilla Mint toothpaste, a small pack of crest whitestrips for the first few days, and a listerine whitening pen, and that did the trick. I use Target brand (generic) whitening trays. They are less expensive and work just as well. I like using the trays better than strips. The whitening is going to fade no matter what. Usually it will last a couple months though. There is more information about this kind of stuff on the box.

From what I hear, it can be painful, but tolerated.
It's not cheap and not lasting. It's harmful to the enamel of the teeth and I personally wouldn't recommend having it done. Just take care of your teeth and use a whitening tooth paste.

mix salt + baking soda and put it on your teeth for few minutes .or add it on top of your regular tooth paste . but home remedies have a very slow effect and they need to be done persistently.
the one occasion i saw an instant tooth whitening was when a neighbour who originally hailed from some hilly area sent us raw walnuts in the form they grow on trees .they were covered by green hard skin and the helper girl at our home took out the skin and starting rubbing it on her teeth for few minutes and during this time she used no water nothing else .after some time she would just spit . and just after 7-8 min of rubbing her teeth were like totally white . not to mention the dark brown stains that walnut left on her lips and extremely bitter taste of walnut bark.

I use Listerine Whitening mouth rinse. It works great since I have braces...plus it costs less. Just gargle it twice daily before you brush your teeth and then use any whitening toothpaste. It took took about three or four weeks to get my teeth super white, and I drink a lot of tea. Get much better results now than when I used whitening strips before braces.

In terms of it making your teeth whiter, I might be able to see that. It kills germs in your mouth if you have an infection.

Yeah, the whitening done by dentist are often the best tough it cost a lot.. But there's also other ways you can to it yourself. If you are really looking for teeth whitening, normal toothpaste probably isn't enough just by itself.

You could try vinegar in toothpaste but you won't get dramatic results. But it's inexpensive. So is baking soda but I've used baking soda by itself and in various toothpastes and they don't really whiten teeth too much. Or at least not mine. The best thing I have found and am currently using is Crest Advanced Seal Whitening Strips. You get two weeks worth for around 44.00. That still is much cheaper than going to a dentist. And the best part is that it really works! I love them. They stick very well to your teeth (they come with an adhesive built into the strip) and I saw results after 3 or 4 days. I'm on my second box and am really well pleased with the results. Hope this helps.

Brush your teeth with baking soda and peroxide or a whitening toothpaste recommended by your dentist. Many name-brand toothpastes now contain baking soda to help remove surface stains from coffee, tea, and soda, and many bleaching systems contain hydrogen peroxide to help users make their teeth whiter. Dip your toothbrush in a small amount of peroxide and then dip it into the baking soda. Brush your teeth for at least two minutes and rinse your mouth well. Brush your teeth using your regular toothpaste for at least 30 seconds afterward. While this method is very effective in helping most people achieve a whiter smile, you should only use it once or twice a week to prevent tooth sensitivity.

Step
2Eat plenty of strawberries. Strawberries contain malic acid, a natural bleaching agent that may be just as effective as name brand teeth-whiteners. You can even mash a strawberry and apply it directly to your teeth to brighten your smile gently and effectively.

I checked with a dentist and the cost of clinical teeth-whitening is nothing less than $ 500 dollars!!! Since I can't afford that procedure I'm looking for a product like the tons that are being advertised to whiten teeth but I don't know which of them work in my case. That is because I don't smoke, don't drink coffee nor a lot of soda so my yellowish tone teeth are completely natural.

i've read of many kinds of home remedies for teeth whitening before.. and remembered that some are just plain bad for your teeth! does anyone know what i'm talking about?

maybe it was along the lines of.. lemons.. strawberries.. baking soda? im so not sure and i would like very much to have this cleared up.

Laser is done by a dentist who applies a 35% Hydrogen Peroxide solution on your teeth. Once this solution is on, a light is held a couple of inches away from your teeth to speed up the chemical reaction of the Hydrogen Peroxide. Many dentist advertise that this works better than tray type whitening. That has not been our experience. There is NO clinical data to indicate the laser whitening works any better than tray whitening. NONE! This procedure costs $ 500 plus. The problem with this procedure is that after a year of your normal eating habits (drinking coke, tea, coffee, etc.) your teeth become slightly discolored again and develops a new stain. With the laser whitening, you will have to go and pay $ 500 plus to have white teeth again. With the custom mouthpieces, you already have the custom mouthpieces that you can wear a year later for a night to take off the new stain at no cost.
There is usually some pain after teeth bleaching. You might try "deep bleaching". It is less painful I left a link below for dentist who perform the service
