The cost depends on your choice of dentist, so ask when you call to make an appointment. If it fits your budget it's worth it, and if your dentist does a good job, your teeth will look very white not ghoulish. Again, it's best to have whitening done professionally, but it's more expensive than using white strips.

The best way to whiten one's teeth is to do it professionally this way the results will be far safer and more pronounced then if one were to use a generic teeth whitening product like Crest White Strips.

The reasoning behind this is that if you go to a dentist and get your teeth professionally whitened, you are doing this in a controlled manner. You are given usually two carpules of whitening gel to start with, usually carbomide peroxide which is at a higher percentage of peroxide then that of Crest White strips etc. and the whitening is controlled by that of your dentist, so therefore you are not damaging your teeth by whitening too frequently, leaving the trays in for too long etc.

When you use a product like Crest White strips you are at your own mercy. I have used both professional whitening products and have used Crest White strips and the differences were quite noticeable. After using Crest White strips Premium, I had quite significant sensitivity to colds. Even breathing in air caused my teeth to hurt and the results were not that great. As well with Crest White strips it is really hard to keep the lower strip onto your teeth without your saliva washing some off, you accidentally ingesting it etc. It tastes really gross, not to mention excess swallowing of peroxide gel can cause you to have a sore throat and possibly become sick. Hence is why I don't recommend drugstore whitening kits.

With a professional tooth whitening system such as Opalescence Xtra Boost Whitening System, you actually get a custom made tray made to specifically fit your teeth. This way you don't accidentally ingest any of the whitening gel, and you are able to wear the whitening trays without having to worry about your saliva getting in the way.

A dentist/dental assistant will take a alginate impression of your teeth, then will pour up a stone model of your teeth. They will then take a vacuum former and seal this over the stone model creating a tray, they will cut it, smooth it out and you have your tray.

I would highly suggest the Opalescence whitening system, as I have tried it myself and the results were great, no sensitivity to cold afterwards and no ingesting of the peroxie. The key with this product though is using it sparingly and giving yourself time between applications as it has a higher percentage of peroxide than that of Crest White strips therefore you can damage your teeth if not monitored.

Average prices for this product are $ 250 to $ 500 and the prices don't include alginate impressions, study model and whitening tray. However, this is FAR more pricier than Crest White strips, $ 50 for Crest White Strips Premium, I think you will get far better results and be more pleased with the Opalescence.

I DO not however recommend the Zoom whitening as it can be very damaging and painful to teeth.

That doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

I suppose it depends on the orthodontist. When I got my braces off, the orthodontistst was so rough, that my mouth was full of sores. My gums were swollen and painful for a week. I think he was just careless. Maybe you will have a better experience.

What you can do is use a straw without letting it touching your teeth. Just don't place the straw were your teeth are. Try to place it at the back of your mouth.

I got quoted around 200 dollars but there are different procedures depending on the type of staining, the type of treatment they use, where you live, etc.
Insurance will NOT cover it because it is a cosmetic procedure.
Safe... ehhh some say it is, some say it isn't, generally yes if you get it done at the dentist, but it can weaken your enamel.
Mix baking soda with peroxide.. You can get a small box of baking soda for under a dollar and a small bottle of hydrogen peroxide for the same. Mix it into a paste (or just dip your brush in the peroxide and then in the baking soda ) and brush with it. DONT swallow it, then brush your teeth normally. It won't make your teeth sensitive like some other whiteners, and it's cheap, but don't do it more than once or twice a week (don't do it every day) as it really just removes stains and once they're gone, they're gone, you can't really get much whiter.

Remember teeth aren't naturally white, they're off white, so you can't really get them WHITE without damaging them. People you see with super white teeth... They're teeth are actually very unhealthy. Good luck!

Since I was 8, that tooth was white but after a few months, a yellow mark appeared. Now that i'm 13 and planning to get braces, I really want to get it remove badly but i'm scared that it might cost a lot. I went to my regular dentist but when they tried removing it, nothing happened. Do I have to go to another dentist? I know some people who works at an Orthodontist and periodontist but can they help me?

By the way, it's not a normal yellow stain. It's...permanent!

I've been using Scope whitening rinse lately and have been pretty impressed. With a rinse I can swish it inbetween teeth & whiten in the cracks & hard to reach surfaces that a strip can miss. That looks really stupid, having really white teeth that are really dark in the inbetween spaces.

To whiten your teeth it costs around $ 200;; but the cheapest way is by Crest White Strips and they run to $ 30-$ 40 and work VERY GOOD :] and you can try to remove the calcium deficiency with the white strips. Good Luck<3

When I got my braces off, my teeth were a bit yellow, not gross, but not sparkling white, they were normal. I got a sonicare toothbrush (worth the investment it is AWESOME!), Crest Vanilla Mint toothpaste, a small pack of crest whitestrips for the first few days, and a listerine whitening pen, and that did the trick. I use Target brand (generic) whitening trays. They are less expensive and work just as well. I like using the trays better than strips. The whitening is going to fade no matter what. Usually it will last a couple months though. There is more information about this kind of stuff on the box.

From what I hear, it can be painful, but tolerated.
It's not cheap and not lasting. It's harmful to the enamel of the teeth and I personally wouldn't recommend having it done. Just take care of your teeth and use a whitening tooth paste.
