I am 22 and recently got braces. I drink coffee regularly and am sure that I will have stains around where the braces are. What is the best way to whiten teeth? I have heard that laser teeth whitening may be a good way to go, but that it can be very expensive. How much does this typically cost? Are whitening strips just as effective? if so, will there be noticable stains for a long time, or do the stains start to fade immediately? I would really appreciate the advice of someone who has experienced this sort of problem

I recently just started working at a dental office. Not to scare you, but a woman came into our office last week and she had her teeth whitened and you could see the outline of her braces. This doesn't happen very often but make sure all of the cement or whatever was used for your braces is removed completely from your teeth. You can always ask your dentist or orthodontist if your teeth are okay for a whitening. A good treatment is called Zoom. I believe it is around 350$ . I have not done it yet but I would like to get it done soon.

I had braces not too long ago. Pretty much just brush your teeth a lot, and you should've brushed them a lot while you had braces, or else there wouldn't have been any stains. Whitening strips work, but you have to brush your teeth or else they'll eventually go back to how they were before, and same with laser treatment, which can be incredibly expensive.
ReplyDeleteyou can ask your dentist or orthodontist to make you a bleaching tray and retainer combo.
ReplyDeleteAll the whitening stuff.bleaching does so much damage to your teeth. Why do that?? Huh?? Why??? I got my braces off last week, im also 22, lol, and i drank a lot of coffee over the course of my braces. I went and had a cleaning BEFORE i got the braces off. I got a cleaning, not a whitening. The assistant took a lot of time and asked if a drank coffee or smoked because i did have stains. Plus, I ate a lot of canned chili, which also stains teeth orange. Anyway, she got all the stains off and they looked white. A simple cleaning will remove the stains, not bleach them. Plus, when the ortho is getting off the cement, minute portions of enamel are shaved off as well. As a rule of thumb, you should wait a month after getting your braces to whiten your teeth because they are weakened by the process. Just get a cleaning. Dont damage your teeth for vanity. Okay? Okay!!!
ReplyDeletei got my braces removed about 4 years ago;
