What is the best teeth-whitening system that doesn't involve a dentist trip?

Question by Sam: What is the best teeth-whitening system that doesn't involve a dentist trip?
I'm trying to find out what is the best teeth-whitening system without going to the dentist for a professional whitening. I'm researching for my fiance, who is in the Marines. Because he doesn't have the time, as well as all the amount of paperwork he would need to file to get a whitening done, we want to find something over-the-counter. He has really sensitive gums, so I'm nervous for him to use the white-strips. Do the trays seem to work better? Or is there another product someone could recommend? Any suggestions would be great...thanks!

  1. Listerine Pro-Health Whitening Pre Rinse,
Colgate Ultra Whitening & Sensitivity Tooth Paste,
    Listerine Pro-Health Whitening After-Rinse,
&& then Crest Whitening Strips + Sensitivity.

It works great! Alot of stuff and it will cost you like 50.00 but it works, and it won't bother his mouth in any bad way, other than he will have great looking - white teeth.

Also, you can buy traveling size packages, for less money, and will be more convienient for his traveling.

  2. Aquafesh gel trays are the best. $ 40
Sensitivity doesn't last long, even if you get a little Sensodine is great for sensitivity too.

  4. There are several types of products available for use at home. Some of these tooth whitening products can be easily purchased off the shelves of pharmacy while others are dispensed by your dentist.

One popular tooth whitening product that you can use is bleaching solution that contains peroxide for bleaching tooth enamel. The bleaching agent in these products is usually carbamide peroxide, which is available in 10, 16 and 22 percent concentrations.

Whiteners that contain peroxide typically come in gel form and are placed in a mouthguard. Some products are used twice a day for 2 weeks while others are intended for overnight use for a 1 to 2 weeks period. If you can obtain the bleaching solution from your dentist, he will be able to construct a custom mouth guard to fit your teeth precisely. Currently, the American Dental Association endorses only dentist-dispensed home-use percent carbamide peroxide tray-applied gels.

In addition to bleaching solution, whitening strips are increasingly being used as a preferred tooth whitening product. For instance, you are now able to get your hands on a set of Crest Whitestrips Supreme from any convenience store. The flexible, invisible strips are coated with an enamel-safe tooth bleaching gel. To whiten your teeth, you simply place the strips on your teeth and wear them for about 15 to 30 minutes each day. After a period of about 21 days, you should be able to see a significant difference on the brightness of your teeth.

  5. The trays usually work better than the strips, but they also cost more: E-Brite Tooth Whitening Accelerator home edition is one type.

  7. Today it's now possible (in almost all cases) to achieve "dental office" quality teeth whitening, from the comfort of your own home saving you time and money. Basically there are three different types of home teeth whitening available: (1) Brush-on whitening, (2) Strips you stick on your teeth and (3) Trays with bleaching gels with the trays being the most effective method.

To get the best results from your home teeth whitening kit be sure to use form-fitting mouth trays that are fitted to your specific bite and use a 21% concentrated bleaching gel based on carbamide peroxide that is formulated specifically to reduce the sensitivity to your teeth and gums. (In other words - No Glycerin!). I have very sensitive teeth so the therabreath products have been working great for me. Check it out below. Hope it helps your fiancé.
